Fwiw the leak turned out to be the seal on the compressor shaft. Dunno how applicable it is, this was on a 2002 Dodge 3/4 ton pickup. The charge would last one month, no dye appeared, nothing on the sniffer. It didn't leak completely out, just enough that it didn't work, so that meant it was a seal not a hole. Replaced the shaft seal and good for 2 summers so far :)
